New and convenient way for patients to order repeat prescriptions
As of 1st May 2019 the Practice are pleased to advise that we have introduced a new and convenient way for patients to order repeat prescriptions
All it takes is a simple phone that you can make from the comfort of your own home. Your prescription can then be sent electronically to a nominated pharmacy of your choice or collect from your Practice if preferred.

Telephone 0115 8550260 between 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday – Please note Mondays are traditionally a busy day, please be patient or consider calling on an alternative day.
Why use this new service
Ordering your repeat prescription will be a quick and simple telephone call. You will be speaking to a dedicated person who will have time to answer any queries you may have about your repeat prescription.
Why are we offering this new service?
Our aim is to ensure that patients receive the correct quantity of medication needed, in a timely manner, to reduce the amount of medication wasted.
Unused prescriptions medicines cost the NHS in Derbyshire along over £6 million every year. Only ordering what you want when you want it will save the NHS money to spend on other important services.
Who will you be talking to?
The service is provided on behalf of your GP practice and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Groups. Your call will be answered by a dedicated, experienced and fully trained call handler who will have access to your medical records in order to process your prescription request.
When will the prescription be ready?
Once you have made the telephone call your prescription will be authorised by your usual GP and will then be sent electronically to your pharmacy of your choice within 2 working days.
I am happy with my existing service, do I have to change?
In order to reduce prescription waste we believe that patients need to take responsibility and control of their own meditational needs. Pharmacy’s will no longer be able to order your medication on your behalf

Ordering your repeat prescriptions online or via email. Please contact the practice if you require more information
Handing your own repeat slip/written request into the practice.
Can everyone use this new service?
Majority of patients can use this service but there are a few exceptions, these being: patients who have their medication issued weekly or patients living in a care or nursing home.
How can patients help to reduce prescription waste?
- Please check your medication cupboard before ordering as you may have additional supplies
- Ideally order prescriptions when you have 5 days of medication left
- If you have a build-up of any medication please let the team know when you call so that quantities can be amended so everything falls in line
- Please do not order just in case. If you need the medication in the future then you will still be able to request it
- Please let us know if you have stopped taking any medications so your records can be updated
